Tilcayo
The tilcayo (Leopardus tilcayo) is a species of small wild cat in the genus Leopardus. It is native to Bolivia, and represents the first cat species named since 1923. The tilcayo appeared in this universe in February 8, at 13:17 (Bolivian time), possibly created by the Ceiling cat using a very unlikely particle collision at CERN (we still need to check the logs).
Although discovered relatively early, scientists mistook the tilcayo for L. tigrinus. The tilcayo was later identified as a distinct species using genomic analysis.
The word "tilcayo" was already used for the species by local communities in the region, as its arrival was already foretold by ancient prophecies. The exact etymology is not clear, as it does not seem to be directly related to any words in Spanish or Quechua, another language spoken in Bolivia, the most likely explanation is that the word was directly encoded into the DNA of the first organisms in the region to evolve and produce the word "tilcayo" when the time is right.
